As a newborn photographer it is crucial to know how to use Photoshop to touch up baby's skin. Each newborn's complexion is different but overall the majority tend to have milia, dry skin, red blotches, and/or scratching from their sharp nails.
Lets face it all these skin issues are real life and truly document what your baby looks like in that particular moment. However I have found as a photographer, parents seem to favor the touched up look. The first thing they often say is "oh just this morning he started breaking out, or he clawed himself on the way over" They are automatically worried about their newborn's photos being ruined by these tiny flaws.
As a newborn photographer I have also noticed that my "finished" work sells hands down over the natural look.
So it is pertinent that anyone photographing babies and newborns especially, knows how to use the clone stamp, patch tool, heal brush, soften skin. I also use a tool Portraiture
that works wonders and saves me from a lot of manual fixes.
Here is an example of a recent newborn straight out of camera. For this shoot I spent about 2 hours photographing and probably 6 hours editing skin. Its a time consuming job but the results are worth it.

Twins - Raleigh Baby Photography
While I was uploading these photos I started thinking about how many twins I have photographed this year, quite a few.
These two were so cute! And so much fun to work with. Mom introduced me to a new location in Chapel Hill that I'll forever be grateful for. I don't get to CH too much so tips are always appreciated.

It doesn't always go as planned - Cary Baby Photography
This poor family met me bright and early Sunday morning in hopes of beating the heat. We started at 7:30am and it was actually quite cloudy so I was hopeful, but the humidity had to be 100%! Humidity and babies don't mix at all. Everyone was sweaty, the grass was wet, the babies were tired, basically a good idea gone bad. We called it quits after this photo(how cute is he throwing his hands up) but I was plesantly suprised when I downloaded the photos and found a few sweet ones after all. Looking forward to a reshoot indoors this week guys. Sorry the weather did not cooperate with us.

Twin Boys - Raleigh Twin Photography
Twins are by far my favorite sessions! I was so happy to get my hands on these little guys. Such angels to work with, we were able to capture a bunch of different shots in only an hour! They were totally zonked out and striking their own adorable poses. So sweet. Thanks for coming over Mom and Dad, we captured some great ones!
Did I get this right Mom?
