Raleigh Baby Birthday Photos - Cary First Birthday Photography

Emme came to see me the other day for her first birthday portraits. First birthday photo sessions are my favorite, well second favorite only to the newborn session. They are definitely the most fun and bring the most laughs of any session.
Its especially exciting when the birthday girl/boy enjoys or attacks the cake. I'd say about half of the kids love the cake and have fun with it, and the other half find the sugar repulsive and we have to persuade them to play in it for show at least.

This little girl was a true girl at heart, she loved her sugar and TORE the cake apart! We simply stood back and watched, and laughed.
Mom brought some adorable outfits and props for her so we had lots to work with. Along with her big smile and bright blue eyes we were golden.

The last time I saw Emme she was 5 weeks old and VERY wide awake. Mom and Dad were hoping to capture her in the traditional sleepy, curly, newborn poses but she was way too excited to do any sleeping. So instead we captured her and her big eyes.

Now here she is at 1 year

Raleigh First Birthday Photographer - Evan vs. the Cake

Another fun cake smashing session with a sweet little guy, Evan. He was a bit shy at first not wanting to show off his smile too much, but once he got sight of the cake and a little sugar in him he perked right up. Oh and the crazy singing, dancing show his grandparents and I put on for him might have helped a little too. Love his big eyes and cheeks and his understanding of Portuguese conversation. Every child should be bi-lingual! His mother & grandparents are from Brazil. Unfortunately I was only able to pick up one Portuguese word throughout the whole session, "lindo" only because it's meaning is the same in Spanish.

Declan's First Birthday Party was a blast. His family invited me over to his house to photograph the event. Declan was the star of his show. A super cute little boy with a huge smile and lots of adorable friends.

Elijah turns one - Raleigh, Cary, Apex, Baby, Child Photographer

Elijah came over for his one year photo session last week. I can't believe how much he has changed since I saw him last at 7 months. He has progressed from baby to big boy thats for sure. Though he's not walking yet, he's definitely a busy little guy. He was much more interested in all the electronics and gadgets in my studio, then having his photo taken.Of course when I pulled out the ladder we were able to get him to freeze for a bit. Then since it was a beautiful day in December we took him out in the grass and let him go!

It was such a beautiful November Raleigh day for this little guy's first birthday photo shoot that we were able to do it outside. We got off to a bad start though. Mom got his cake at Whole Foods and they messed up the colors. Then the weeds/grass kept popping his balloons, and when we pulled out his yummy cake he didn't like it nor did he want to smash it. So we bagged the whole cake smash idea and put his clothes back on to capture just him and his expressions. He is such a happy kid! And so cute in his little red chair and outfit

Raleigh,Cary,Photographer - Holiday Family Portraits

This was such an fun-filled work week for me. All the smiley, happy, babies came back to visit. Dustin, who will be turning one on Thanksgiving came over for a first birthday cake smashing session and family portraits. I am fortunate in my neighborhood to have a beautiful greenway trail and a few empty lots with evergreens and weeds(suprisingly a great photo backdrop).

Ryan's First Birthday - Raleigh, Cary, Baby Photographer

I love the first birthday photo sessions. This adorable baby boy belongs to one of my good friends who lives in New York, too far from Raleigh. I've only been able to photograph him twice this year, so sad. He is one of the happiest little guys I know. Unfortunately by the time we got to the cake he was getting ready for his nap. I thought he might actually fall asleep in his cake. He sure did like how it tasted though!
