Chloe at Crowder Park - Cary's Child Photographer

This was the second time I've photographed little Chloe. Unfortunately she still wasn't crazy about my camera. Mom says its cause she's had a camera in her face her whole life. Luckily with a few tricks and toys we got some smiles out of her. Mom actually preferred the ones of Chloe being Chloe, totally unposed and adorable.

Emma - Raleigh Family Photography

Emma and family came out to Crowder Park for the May mini-sessions. She's 14 mths old and very interested in trying out her new wheels. We did lots of running around in this session! We picked flowers, played in the sand, and went for rides on daddy's shoulder. Mom said she is usually shy around new people but she was all smiles and sweet as could be. Looking forward to meeting her baby sister in August. Thanks guys!

check out those killer lashes!

Jake & Family - Raleigh Family Photography

Jake goes to school with my daughter. After I did a Valentine's day photo project for the class his grandmother called. She was very excited about capturing some photos of the whole family and the boys being boys. When she booked the session she warned me that the boys might not cooperate, but if one was smiling and one was crying in the photo, that'd be okay. She didn't want any of the posey, fake, cheesy smile shots. I told her I was all for the natural, fun, playful poses and reassured her not to worry because no one would be crying.
The boys were 5 and 9, I thought the session would be a piece of cake. Normally I am working with newborns or chasing around toddlers, boys that could actually be told what to do, boys that could sit still, that'd be easy.
Well the session was a lot harder than I thought it would be. In the boys defense we had the session at 6pm (not a great time for kids, no matter the age), the session fell on the hottest day of this Spring(everyone was sweating), and the Arboretum where we were shooting, was jammed pack with prom goers getting their photos taken, so the session was much longer than it should have been.
Luckily no one cried as I promised, but there were a few pout face shots here and there, a couple brotherly fights, and we had to twist some arms once and awhile : )
But through it all some great photos of the family were captured. There are plenty of sweet ones of the two boys, some heartbreaking singles, (these boys have amazing eyes/smiles), and plenty of silly shots of them just as they were that night, boys being boys, rough-housing, jumping, running, being crazy.
Why would you want to capture anything else?

Baby M 3 Month Old - Raleigh Newborn Photography

This little girl is one of my babyplanners. A few months ago we met during her newborn session. She still holds the record as my longest session, 3 hours, the girl would not sleep. I promise parents that I will get those sleepy shots and we did but she almost had me beat.
At this session, her 3 mth. session, I told her Mom it would go much faster. And it did though not as fast as it should have. Baby M is a little spit fire, Mom has her hands full : ) She really reminds me of my youngest. She was a little shy/scared at first but eventually we got her warmed up and were able to capture some adorable shots of her and some precious ones with Mom and Dad.
J&N thanks for your patience, I'm not going to jinx the next session but it should go easier!

My Mother's Day - Location Photography

My husband has always wanted to take me Charleston. This year for Mother's Day he finally booked it. Having never been before I fell in love with everything about the city, and the beach at the Isle of Palms where we stayed. I was amazed with the architecture, the food, and the water. We spent time lounging by the pool, collecting sand dollars on the beach, exploring the city on foot and even rented bikes to bike the Island. It is such a beautiful place to visit! And a great place to bring a camera. Can't wait to return soon.

Sweet Laila - Raleigh Child Photography

A couple weeks ago I watched my friend's little girl and boy while she and her husband went to Paris! One late sunny afternoon I pulled out the camera as we were playing in the driveway. I just LOVE her expression here and the way the background "bokeh" sparkles. You'd never know that there was a porta potty in the background (look for the blue). First tip to taking better photos, learn about aperture and how to blur those unwanted things in the background!

Dapper 2 year old - Raleigh child photography

I was so happy when Mom scheduled this little guy's 2 year birthday session at J.C. Raulston Arboretum. Not only is he so adorable and stylish (check out that outfit!), he was by far the happiest, smiliest kid I've ever photographed. I could have photographed him all day, he was just so sweet. It was great to see you again little man, thanks for having me.
